Top players of Global Mobile Internet Speed

As highlighted by the latest Global Index speed test for December 2025, there have been significant variations in internet speed across certain locations. Internet speeds differ between fixed broadband and mobile, reflecting regional infrastructure investment and technological adoption. Here are the key highlights:

  • Globally, mobile networks averaged 105.70 Mbps download

  • There have been 14.78 Mbps uploads along with 24 ms latency

  • Fixed broadband networks performed better, averaging 118.59 Mbps download, 59.45 Mbps upload, and 9 ms latency.

For mobile performance, the United Arab Emirates continues to lead globally with a speed of 691.76 Mbps. Next is Qatar (573.57 Mbps), followed by Kuwait at 415.67 Mbps.

When it comes to fixed broadband, Singapore ranks first at 410.06 Mbps. The second and third-ranked countries are the UAE (382.35 Mbps) and France (349.25 Mbps), respectively. Among the top five countries are Chile and Hong Kong.

Other key players

In addition to the countries mentioned above, there are others with faster internet speeds.  The global speed rankings are led by Gulf Nations and some parts of Europe and Asian countries. However, when it comes to mobile connectivity, several low- and middle-income countries still lag behind.

According to the December 2025 index, the digital divide is widening. The report also highlights that this disparity occurs across regions, often due to limited technological advancement. Other issues include regional and political conflict.

This uneven distribution of internet speeds highlights the importance of long-term, sustainable investment in digital infrastructure. This initiative can help to secure equal access to stable and safe internet services globally.
