Abu Dhabi is getting ready for a big change in technology. G42, a major tech company based in the UAE, has announced a plan to build one billion AI agents by the end of 2026. This plan supports the country’s goal to grow its economy and lead the world as a strong UAE AI hub.

G42 CEO Peng Xiao shared this plan at a global economic event. He said the company has clear goals to produce these AI agents within the year. AI agents are smart software programs. They can understand data, make choices, and complete tasks on their own.

AI Agents to Power Multiple Industries

These AI agents will help many industries. Some will work like petroleum engineers in the oil and gas sector. Others will help with cybersecurity, healthcare, finance, and data work. These agents can work all day and night. Even if they work for only part of the day, they still need a lot of computing power.

To support this plan, G42 is building the Stargate infrastructure in Abu Dhabi. This project is part of a large 5-gigawatt UAE–US AI Campus. G42 is building the site, while OpenAI and Oracle will run the AI systems. The first stage includes a powerful 1-gigawatt compute center.

Rapid Construction of Stargate Infrastructure

Construction at the site is moving quickly. More than 7,000 workers are on the ground, and over 100 cranes are in use. Every three months, about 250 megawatts of capacity is added. This fast work shows how serious the project is for the UAE.

G42 expects many of these AI agents to be used inside the country. At the same time, the company plans to sell AI services to other countries. Peng Xiao said the goal is to send ready-made intelligence to the world. This can help places that do not have strong AI systems.

Global Backing and Long-Term Vision

The Stargate project gained global attention after its announcement during a high-level visit by the United States president in 2025. Big companies like Nvidia, SoftBank, and Cisco are part of the plan. Their support shows strong trust in the project.

Experts say this plan shows a shift in AI use. Instead of simple tools that only create content, AI agents can handle real tasks and daily work. This can improve speed and efficiency in many fields.

Peng Xiao also spoke about energy. He said future AI costs will depend on electricity prices. The UAE’s strong energy supply helps support large AI systems.

If the plan succeeds, Abu Dhabi could become a global center for AI work. The goal of one billion AI agents shows bold thinking and strong confidence. The coming months will decide how fast this vision becomes real.
