There has been constant development in new-age technologies and AI-powered advancements. To explore this space further, the Indian and UAE governments collaborated to launch a program called ‘Digital Embassy.’ This space aims to foster cooperation in technology, science, and innovation between the two countries.

Understanding ‘Digital Embassy’

A ‘digital embassy’is a safe and offshore digital facility where a nation-state stores its critical data. This ensures sovereignty and digital continuity even if its physical territory faces threats related to political conflict, natural disasters and cyberattacks. Thus, operating under its own jurisdiction through diplomatic agreements with a host country, much like a physical embassy.

The plan to create a data embassy in the United Arab Emirates has highlighted the country's academic interest. Thus, scheduling a meeting between President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This comes after Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, a resident, recently visited New Delhi.

This project is the first attempt by India to explore the digital embassy concept and is worth mentioning. The aim of ‘Digital Embassy’ is to protect citizens' high-level national information. Thus, avoiding geopolitical risks and strengthening digital relations between the UAE and India.
