TikTok has been making a significant impact on the UAE's financial status. Reportedly, the social media platform is delivering measurable economic impact. But how? Here’s how TikTok is boosting the UAE's economic graph.

According to a new report, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) using the platform are contributing around AED 1.1 billion to the national economy. This contribution has supported more than 7,000 jobs.

The 'The TikTok Effect: Enabling the UAE’s Dynamic Digital Economy' report was developed by Redseer Strategy Consultants in collaboration with TikTok. It highlights TikTok’s influence on the creative economy, entrepreneurship, tourism, and skills development. The report was presented during the World Government Summit.

More than 10,000 SMEs in the UAE were launched with the help of TikTok, the report suggests. Currently, over 70,000 local small businesses are active on the social media platform. It also shows that TikTok is becoming a major digital channel,  especially for new entrepreneurs. The key areas include:

  • Customer acquisition

  • Brand building 

  • Market expansion

The roadmap ahead

The report also highlights TikTok’s role and the major impact it has created in the creative economy. Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, believes that the UAE’s supportive business environment and regulations have enabled global technology platforms to contribute a lot. The regulations have promoted economic diversification and growth. He also explains that digital technologies are becoming a key part of our daily lives. Especially in everyday economic activity and professional fields.

Jenan Mohamed Alhashili, Head of Public Policy for the GCC at TikTok, said the platform has lowered barriers for entrepreneurs. It has also helped digital creators and local brands reach global audiences. Moreover, TikTok believes that its platform has evolved into a core layer of the UAE’s digital economy.
